My pedal isn't found or keeps disconnecting
The Connect a MIDI pedal sheet says why a MIDI pedal won't connect. Find your message below.
Where: iPhone, iPad and Android only. OnStage on phone, tablet and web
What to try
- Bluetooth is off: turn Bluetooth on in Control Center or your phone's settings. The search starts again by itself.
- Bluetooth access needed: tap Open Settings and allow Bluetooth. On Android 12 and later it's called Nearby devices; on Android 11 and earlier, Location.
- No pedals found: check the pedal is on and close by. Set it to MIDI mode, since some pedals start as a keyboard. Disconnect it from any other phone or tablet, then tap Try again.
- Couldn't connect to your pedal: the same checks apply. Tap Try again.
- Can't search for pedals: Bluetooth isn't available right now. Tap Try again later. Keyboard pedals still work.
Good to know
- A keyboard pedal never shows up in this list. Pair it in your phone's Bluetooth settings and it works without connecting here.
- If a Bluetooth pedal drops mid-song, OnStage reconnects it by itself. If it can't, tap Retry on the message at the top of the screen.
- A pedal connects to one phone or tablet at a time.
